Her Proposal Story

ring

Bengt had been acting suspicious the week or so previous. He had to mysteriously go to the "bank" on several occasions. He made up various excuses for why he needed to go, but considering how much we do together it was a bit peculiar that he quite obviously did not want me with him. I was suspicious about what he was up to, but just let it slide. Then he insisted we should make dinner reservations to celebrate our cohabitation, except he wanted to do it before he was even done moving. I didn't understand why he was so insist about it though.

We were at home on the couch after a home made dinner that week and I said, 'Ooo we have brownie for dessert.' Bengt said, 'No, I ate it for breakfast.' I said, 'You ate MY brownie?' Bengt said, 'Yes, I'll make it up to you. What do you want?' I said 'A house.' He said, 'Anything else?' and I said, 'What a house isn't enough?' this continued for a bit and then he said, 'Wait, I'll get you something' and ran off down to the truck and came back and got down on one knee and asked me to marry him instead. So the gist is that he ate my brownie and gave me an engagement ring instead.

His Proposal Story

I'd spent some time looking for the perfect ring. We found a setting we liked, when we weren't looking, in Vegas. I wanted to pick the perfect ring, plan the perfect night, with the perfect scene and surprise her. I made horrible excuses about (last minute banking on a Saturday night?!) to sneak off and double check on the band, the size, and the stone. I after a couple weeks of sneaking off to check on it, I returned triumphant with the perfect ring. I made reservations for the perfect dinner (Foreign Cinema in SF) and called ahead for the perfect champagne and the perfect table. Turns out the movie that was playing at the restaurant (look up the restaurant) the Saturday I'd planned was a depressing movie about betrayal. Scrap that. Couple more days of resisting jumping out of my skin and giving her the ring and I started making alternate plans.

Yes, I ate her brownie. I felt incredibly guilty. She confronted me and I couldn't resist. I'm incredibly happy and the mundane circumstances of our engagement only highlight how the everyday moments with her are some best of my life.
